Biography
Snoop Dogg
real name Calvin Broadus was born on October 20th, 1971 in Long Beach
California. He was nicknamed Snoopy by his mother because of his resemblance
of a TV character. Snoop's father abandoned Snoop and his family for unknown
reasons so Snoop was brought up by his mother but his grandfather also
helped her raise him. Snoop became very close to his grandfather who
sheltered Snoop from the violence of the streets. But, disaster struck for
Snoop as in his early teens Snoop's grandfather died. Snoop then joined the
Crips gang aged 15. Snoop was suspended from High School just before he
graduated for smoking a joint in school. After Snoop had graduated he was in
and out of jail other the next few years. Snoop's lucky break when him and
his two closest friends Nate Dogg and Warren G formed a group called
"213" and Warren G's brother Dr. Dre heard their demo tape and was
blown away by Snoop and immediately recruited him to work on his debut solo
album "The Chronic."
